ART/DESIGN
Marjorie Hope Rothstein
“How you live your life is your greatest work of art.”
As a Fine Arts scholar, Marjorie has a passion for creating beauty, from interior/exterior design to sculpture and landscape.
By blending her own visions with unique elements from her international travels, she was inspired to create ‘The Art of Living Well,’ resort-like living environments within your home. Her style is ‘casual- elegance’ and her mission is to turn any home into a haven. Marjorie encourages her clients to live a “Five-Star Life”. She believes that “How you live life is your greatest work of art.” As a self-proclaimed “Boomer” aficionado, she loves to review luxury spas, preventative health and state of the art rejuvenation centers.
“Ever since I was a little girl I was trained to see the world through the eyes of an artist.”
Marjorie Hope Rothstein has been an innovative influence on the cutting edge of the art and design world. Her works of art have been exhibited in galleries and shows all over the globe. From the Intercontinental Hotel in Japan, to the Bel Age Hotel in Los Angeles, Ms. Rothstein’s prolific sculptures are a dramatic focal point in any setting. Many of the works are in private collections for which a site-specific piece is designed to enhance the garden. Utilizing unique combinations of materials from stone and rock to glass, bronze and resin, the sculptures evolved into a moving experience through the use of waterfalls and living plants. “Ever since I was a little girl I was trained to see the world through the eyes of an artist. My mother was a sculptor, so I basically grew up in the studio. Since I had such a rich background in the visual language and art, I have developed unique skills such as using a variety of materials from the traditional to the extraordinary.”
At present her work has appeared on several television shows, including “Six Feet Under” in addition to commercials such Toyota Commercial in 1993 and was repeatedly aired for several years, at the Superbowl. The theme of the commercial was, “It’s ART” and the cars were reflected in her bronze mirror finish sculpture. It has been viewed by millions of people and was voted the ‘Best In Show’ in Los Angeles.
In addition to a Fine Arts Degree, Ms. Rothstein has a post-graduate degree in interior/exterior design from UCLA, with clients in the corporate and movie industries. As a professional for over 20 years, Ms. Rothstein realized that the greatest common denominator missing from most homes and offices is a total concept environment focusing on personal lifestyles. It is simply “The Art of Living Well,” creating a home for the mind, body and spirit. Most people decorate for a look, I design to include the ‘feel’. Home remodeling is no longer home improvement; it is life improvement. She believes in the concept of designing with a holistic approach to ‘making your home a haven in a hectic world.” in addition, her sculptures are designed as a total concept environment to create the essence of ‘Sacred Space’.
“Most people decorate for a look, I design to include the ‘feel’.”
As a travel writer, she had the opportunity to experience the “5-Star Life”, and realized that most people would love to take that experience and “create resort like living right at home”.
As a passionate luxe hotel-aficionado, Ms. Rothstein has found a way to enjoy her ‘lust for beauty’ via her writing reviews of spas and resorts. She is an expert on leading edge beauty and ‘state of the art’ graceful anti-aging techniques. Her reviews appear monthly in Malibu Magazine as well as other publications and e-zines. As a ‘Spa Goddess’ she encourages her readers to fully embrace the concept of ‘preventative health’. As a ‘Boomer Babe’ her heart is focused on quality of life issues, such as creating a new paradigm for vibrant aging. ‘The Spa Mentality’, as described by spiritual author, Thomas Moore, is a “fantasy, a place of healing waters, of time, solitude and society.” It not only focuses on the needs of the body, but also addresses the needs of the soul. This spa mentality existed in ancient times, and was an integral part of life, as a place to heal, before hospitals and modern medicine. “To this end, an environment was created which, as in modern spas and health resorts, was as far as possible removed from the disturbing and unhealthful elements of the outside world”.
“How you live your life is your greatest work of art.
So make it a masterpiece!”
